On the fence about a Doberman X?? You say you only want a PUREBRED Doberman?? Read on........  Experienced   Doberman owners may smile at the thought of a Doberman being considered one of the   purebred   breed of dogs, considering the many breeds that went in to create a Doberman. The Doberman is a mixture of many dogs such as the Rottweilers, German    pinschers, Greyhounds, Terriers, Great Danes and Beauceron breeds to name a few. This creation was the brainchild of Karl Doberman, a tax collector in East Germany who was faced with irate people not willing to pay taxes. The Doberman was created to be his protector and have the looks of powerful enforcer to the public who might potentially rob him while on his   journeys   collecting taxes. The first Dobermans were medium size, with furry long hair and big bones! In the 1900, the Greyhound was added to give the Doberman, sleeker lines and shorter hair.
These dogs were originally bred to be an aggressive, one-man fighting dog. Not what people want today! Some mistaken folks are not in favor of Doberman mixes as they are under the impression, falsely, that the purebred strain gets diluted. What they do not understand is that the best dogs, even the purebred Dobermans, have been made through continuous mixtures in order to get the best attributes of the breeds. So if you are not bothered about pedigree blood lines but you are looking for Doberman that has good health, longevity, calm temperament and intelligence, you can try a known Doberman mix. Also consider    the idea of the many inherited and inbred Doberman genetic diseases, such as Dilated Cardiomyopathy (60% of all purebred Dobermans will die of cardio disease), Von Willabrands Disease, Liver disease, Hypothyroidism, Wobblers, Alopecia, Retinol Atophy to name a few, being bred out of the Doberman mixes as they have been mixed by a healthier, sturdier and possibly a much more robust gene line.
We believe Doberman mixes have many positive advantages over the "PUREBRED" Dobermans!
